The Office of the Vice President (OVP) received P125 million in confidential funds on Wednesday; however, one of the petitioners contesting the legality of the transfer argued that the money was not constitutionally allowed.
\nRepresentative France Castro of the ACT Teachers party list stated in a statement that the contentious lawsuit is not just theoretical but has also cost millions of pesos that should have gone to helpless Filipinos.
\nShe continued, “All guidelines regarding the appropriate use of such funds were broken by this unlawful and unconstitutional transfer of P125 million to the Office of the Vice President for confidential funds.”
\nFollowing the OVP’s formal remarks on the petitions, Castro released a statement stating that “none of the petitions present an ‘actual case or controversy’ and none of the petitioners alleged a ‘legally demandable and enforceable right,’ which calls for the exercise of ‘Judicial Power.
\nIn its submission to the Supreme Court, the OVP further argued that Castro and the others’ petitions “are mere apprehension and speculation about contingent funds or confidential funds, which does not constitute a justiciable controversy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
