The allegations of grave misconduct and obstruction of justice against former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osme\u00f1a were recently slipped by the Office of the Ombudsman because of their lack of legitimacy.
\nAccording to the Ombudsman’s order, Osme\u00f1a’s criminal and administrative cases had been dismissed on account of lack of merit.
\nIn 2018, three individuals were caught filling butane canisters with liquefied petroleum gas illegally, and Osme\u00f1a ordered their release. After this, it’s Garma filed complaints, which were eliminated. Royina Garma, the former general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), filed these allegations.
\nThe Ombudsman’s outcome, the complainant “miserably failed” to prove Osme\u00f1a’s allegations because she purposely allowed the suspects to escape to obstruct, impede, frustrate, or avoid the successful investigation and prosecution of criminal cases.
\nConsidering the grave misconduct complaint, the Ombudsman declared that there doesn’t seem any solid evidence against Osme\u00f1a due to these present cases do not contain any elements of corruption, an obvious intent to break the law, or apparent disapproval for an established rule.
\nAfter attending a House hearing on extrajudicial killings during the Duterte administration’s drug initiative, Osme\u00f1a conveyed the knowledge to Garma, who had been unable to make it due to medical problems.
\nWhile he found that Garma, an ex-cop, was allegedly collecting P1 million a week in payola, he protested\u00a0Garma’s candidature as Cebu City. Osme\u00f1a was invited by lawmakers to discuss the topic more in another hearing due to limited time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
