Former President Rodrigo Duterte is going to be invited to give testimony before House joint committees about suspected extrajudicial killings carried out during his administration’s war on drugs.
\nThe basis for this is that, said former mayor of Iloilo City Jed Mabilog, his name was added to the list of narcolists because he supported against Duterte before the 2016 elections.
\nIn addition, Mabilog claimed that Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, the then-PNP head and ordered him to Camp Crame, maybe threatening his life.
\nCo-chairman of the House Quad Committee and lawmaker from Manila Benny Abante said they have tried to get Duterte appear before the committee so they may hear his answer to these charges.
\nIn case the former president refuses to appear before the House session, Abante emphasized that the House was going to handle him according to civility and would not issue a show cause order or cite him for contempt. The House drug war committee had earlier sent summons to Duterte and Dela Rosa, but neither of them attended up.
\nIn the words of Abante, the House joint committee considers that Mabilog was not involved in the usage of illegal narcotics and that the individual liable for framing the former mayor need to face punishment.
